Nama Anda ‘Agus’ atau ‘Bagus’? Dua-duanya salah : Pengalaman pribadi (English version, scroll down)

“Maaf Pak, salah tuh, nama saya ‘Bagus‘,” kataku.

“Iya saya tahu, Agus kan?” katanya ngotot, padahal kupingnya rada congekan. Teuteup dia gak ngeliat saya, cuma ngeliatin kertas di mejanya.

“Pakai ‘B‘, Pak, bukan ‘Agus‘,” kataku berusaha sabar.

“Oooo… pakai ‘B‘, bilang dong,” katanya.

GUBRAKKKK

English version:

I can’t hide my laugh everytime I remember this funny experience.

So, unce upon a time, when I was in junior high school, I was going to resgistrate something I forget what exactly.

There was an old-man, aged about 50, sitting behind the resgistration desk. His face was showing kinda an ‘unfriendly state’.

“Your name, please,” he said without looking at my face.

“It’s ‘Bagus‘,” I said. He didn’t respond as soon as he wrote down my name on a registration form.

I stood in front of him but I could see that he wrote ‘Agus‘ instead of ‘Bagus‘.

“Excuse me, Sir. My name is ‘Bagus‘,” I tried to correct him.

“I know. ‘Agus‘, isn’t it?” he insisted. He might need to clean his ears, obviously.

“No, Sir. There is a ‘B‘, not ‘Agus‘,” I said, trying to stay calmed.

“Oh, ok. You should say it earlier if there is a ‘B‘,” he said, still, in a unfriendly tone.

The man erased and changed the name from ‘AGUS‘ to ‘ABUS

*&#%$%$@%#$$*)(%….

(FYI, Bagus is a common word and name in Indonesia. Bagus in English means ‘Good”)
